Niahm The Irish Stout Fairy 1

I created this doll for the Yahoo Group Viki's Finds Photo Op Contest III. She came third in the Cutest Doll category and first in the Funniest Doll Category!!

I found out while making Niahm (pronounced Neve) that I HATE kelly dolls. They are too tiny to work with and clothes look stupid on them - at least anything I did looked stupid!! Those doll artists that can make kelly look good are geniuses I tell you!

I added green highlights to the doll's original blonde hair and gave it a choppy look. I repainted her face with acyrlic paints, slightly reshaping the face by closing her mouth, and hand rooted her eyelashes.

Her wings are made from a wire frame secured in a laminating pouch and then painted before laminating. I used glass piants and silk paint gutta to create the veins. Her stand and glass of Irish Stout is made from modelling clay.

Niahm's outfit is made from ribbon and glass seed beads. Her jewelley is made from wire, gold thread and glass seed beads.
